This Privacy Policy explains how Villages Helper ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use the Villages Helper platform (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: your name, email address, password, and role (customer or contractor) when you register.
- Contractor business information: business name, owner name, phone number, service categories, service area, and business description.
- Job and quote information: service requests, job details, locations, quotes submitted, and related communications.
- Reviews and ratings: feedback you submit about contractors.
- Payment information: subscription and billing details processed through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
- Usage information: technical data such as device type, browser, and interactions with the Platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Platform.
- Connect customers with contractors and facilitate quotes and bookings.
- Process subscriptions and payments.
- Send transactional messages, notifications, and service-related communications.
- Display contractor listings, reviews, and ratings.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Email and Other Communications
We may send you emails and in-app notifications related to your account, such as quote notifications, booking updates, subscription receipts, and important service announcements. These transactional messages are necessary to provide the service. Where we send promotional communications, you may opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in the message; opting out of promotional messages does not stop transactional messages required to operate your account.
4. Payment Processing Through Stripe
We use Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe") to process payments and manage subscriptions. When you make a payment, your payment information is collected and processed directly by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's privacy policy and security standards. We receive limited information from Stripe, such as subscription status and the last four digits of your card, but we do not store your complete payment card details. Your use of Stripe is subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.
5. How We Share Information
We may share your information:
- With other users as necessary to facilitate the service (e.g., sharing a customer's job details with contractors, or a contractor's listing and contact information with customers).
- With service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as hosting (Supabase) and payment processing (Stripe).
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Villages Helper, our users, or others.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it in accordance with applicable law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described below.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
